The Information Center and Genealogy Services area is buzzing with speculation about what the weather might do tomorrow. Salt trucks have been spotted on the highways, and a Winter Storm Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Raleigh.
Only time will tell what February 1st's weather will be!
If wintery precipitation is falling tomorrow, please call the reference desk at 919-807-7450 to make sure we are open before venturing out to see us. Thanks!

Technicals Services and Documents begin their move to the basement
Today our Technical Services and Documents branches began moving their offices down to the basement. The West Mezzanine where they were located will be sealed off next week and will be a construction zone.
Today, bookcases, files, and supplies began their descent.

Some bookcases were "parked" in front of the freight elevator, awaiting for their turn.

Office supplies were relocated via book carts.

Smiling librarians and other staff helped the relocation go smoothly.

A little snow and a lot of construction
We had a beautiful dusting of snow in the Triangle this morning!
Staff and construction crews still made it in okay. A few library patrons made it to us safely, too!
The snow has now turned completely to rain.
Here are a few more construction pictures taken on the second floor of building this morning, down the hall from the Archives Reading Room.

More construction pictures
Here's a picture of what the area where the reference collection was housed looked like last week:

Under construction - the mezzanine
We're happy to be tucked away down in the basement while the floors above us undergo construction. Be sure to stop by to visit us when you get a chance!
Here are a few pictures of its beginnings.

We're open for business!
Our doors opened at 9:00a.m. this morning, and people are managing to find us here in the basement! We are happy to see the smiling faces of our regular patrons coming through the door again!
Please come by and visit!
